This month's Pet of the Month is Sasha Lacz!

Sasha has been a patient of ours since she was just a little kitten.
Earlier this year in March, Sasha got very sick. She began vomiting, and her appetite decreased. When her mom brought her in, she was running a high fever and her abdomen was very painful. X-rays of her belly didn't show anything abnormal. Her blood work was normal, and we gave her an injection of a steroid to help her appetite.
Over the weekend, Sasha visited the emergency clinic to get some fluids to help her stay hydrated and to keep her kidneys functioning correctly. She still didn't want to eat or drink, so we had her come in and stay in the hospital for the day to keep her on fluids and see if we could entice her to eat. While she was here, she didn't show much improvement, so the doctors spoke with her mom and they decided to place a feeding tube so we could keep her nourished. We also started her on a pain medication to help her sore belly and to try to stimulate an appetite.
A week later, Sasha had some great improvement! She was eating on her own during the day, and was so hungry that she was trying to steal french fries off of her mom's dinner plate! We kept the feeding tube in for just a little while longer, because her appetite wasn't fully back to normal.
A month after she got sick, Sasha was able to have her feeding tube removed, and was fully healed! She is now back to her normal self
